Griquas Shine Across All Ages at 2025 Schools Rugby Weeks

The 2025 SA Rugby Youth Weeks were packed with talent, spirit, and hard-fought matches — and Griquas Rugby was proud to be represented across all three major tournaments: U13 Craven Week, U16 Grant Khomo Week, and U18 Craven Week.

These events are more than just games — they are a showcase of future stars, and Griquas delivered performances to be proud of at every level.

U13 Craven Week

📍 East London | 30 June – 4 July

Our U13s stepped onto the field with heart and determination, taking on top provincial teams in East London. With solid defence and strong teamwork, this young squad laid the foundation for what’s to come — many of them showing the promise of one day wearing the senior Griquas jersey.

U16 Grant Khomo Week

📍 Pretoria | 30 June – 4 July

In Pretoria, our U16 team competed fiercely in a challenging lineup. Their match against Zimbabwe showed discipline and structure, and the group continued to grow in confidence as the week went on. These boys are a key part of Griquas’ long-term rugby future.

U18 Craven Week

📍 Middelburg | 7 – 12 July

The U18 Griquas team delivered standout performances, including a thrilling 46–34 win over the Leopards. Flyhalf Aidan Gadeija stole the spotlight with two tries and four conversions, helping the team bounce back strong after a narrow loss earlier in the week. Their final clash against the Valke ended with another well-earned win, securing a memorable week for the squad.

Why This Matters

These Youth Weeks are a vital part of the Griquas player development pipeline, giving young talent the chance to test themselves, grow under pressure, and catch the eye of national selectors and academy scouts.

From U13 to U18, the players showed resilience, skill, and pride in the peacock-blue — proving once again that the future of Griquas Rugby is in good hands.

Meet the team: Ebune “Mango / Baby Rhino” Ngundue – Power, Potential and Heart in the Front Row

If there’s one thing every championship team needs, it’s raw power up front — the kind that shifts scrums, dents defensive lines and sets the tone for 80 minutes. For the Suzuki Griquas, one of the newest sources of that power comes in the form of Ebune Moango Ngundue, affectionately known as “Mango” or “Baby Rhino.”

A prop with huge potential and even bigger heart, Ngundue arrives in Kimberley ready to take his opportunity and make his mark in Peacock Blue.
