A Night of Honour: Suzuki Griquas Welcome SA Rugby & Union Leaders

Each year, the newly crowned Currie Cup champions have the honour and responsibility of hosting a special dinner for SA Rugby and the CEOs and Presidents of the other unions — a long-standing tradition that celebrates unity within the sport.

This year, Suzuki Griquas were humbled to uphold that tradition. Following our Currie Cup victory, we welcomed rugby’s leadership to the annual Champions’ Dinner — an evening dedicated to reflection, connection and shared appreciation for the game we all serve.

The night unfolded into a warm and memorable gathering, marked by a true sense of respect, camaraderie and celebration across the rugby community.

A Huge Thank You to Our Hosts & Sponsors

This evening wouldn’t have been possible without the vision, generosity and hospitality of a few special individuals and organisations:

  • WODC — in particular Johan and Nicky, who generously sponsored the evening and opened their beautiful venue for the celebration. Your commitment to honouring the team and our partners set the tone for an unforgettable night.

  • Our premium beverage partners — Fort Simon Wines, JC Le Roux, Avante Brandy, and Stretton’s Gin — who helped raise the glasses in a salute to victory.

  • Paulene Schreuder, for the exquisite catering that had our guests praising every course — professionalism and taste that matched the magnitude of the evening.

  • Our entertainers — Jacobi de Villiers and Olga Leonard — whose performances added rhythm, energy and heart to our celebration.

A Toast to Our Rugby Family

It was an honour to welcome the CEOs and Presidents from all other unions — your presence made the night not just about one team’s victory, but about unity across the South African rugby community.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to Mark Alexander and the entire SA Rugby team, for their ongoing leadership and support of union-based rugby across the country.

Your attendance and support speak volumes about the shared spirit and respect in our rugby family.

Reflections on the Evening

The ambience, the people, the laughter and the camaraderie — everything aligned.

Looking Ahead

As we bask in this success, we also look forward — to defending the trophy, to giving our fans more pride, and to building on the values that got us here: teamwork, resilience and community.

But for now — we celebrate. And we say a heartfelt, sincere thank you to everyone who made this night truly special.

To our sponsors, partners, supporters and rugby family: from Suzuki Griquas, with gratitude — this one’s for you.
