Meet the team: Cameron Hufke – Electric from the Back for the Griquas

Speed, instinct and the ability to turn nothing into something — Cameron Hufke brings all of that and more to the Suzuki Griquas backline. Operating at fullback, Hufke has developed into one of the most exciting attacking threats in PouBlou, capable of changing a game in a single moment. Whether counter-attacking from deep or finishing in space, he plays with confidence, precision and pace that keeps defenders guessing.

From Junior Promise to Senior Impact

Hailing from Ceres in the Western Cape, Cameron’s rugby journey began with early recognition at youth level, where his talent earned him selection for SA Schools. That exposure highlighted his attacking instincts and finishing ability, setting the foundation for his professional career.

His progression through domestic rugby eventually led him to the Griquas, where he has continued to grow into the fullback role. With strong positional awareness and a natural feel for broken play, Hufke has become a trusted figure in the back three.

Big Moments on the Big Stage

The 2025 season will forever be remembered in Griquas history — and Cameron Hufke played his part in writing that chapter.

In the Currie Cup Final, Hufke struck early, scoring the opening try of the match and setting the tone in a thrilling 27–25 victory. His composure and execution in that moment underlined his ability to rise when it matters most.

Throughout the campaign, he consistently contributed in attack, finding the try line, creating space from deep, and offering a constant counter-attacking threat that stretched opposition defences.

What Makes Cameron Hufke a Threat

From the backfield, Hufke brings a well-rounded skill set:

  • Explosive pace and acceleration

  • Strong counter-attacking instincts

  • Excellent finishing ability

  • Calmness under pressure

  • Sharp support play and vision

Any loose kick or turnover can quickly turn into points when Hufke finds space.

Beyond the Field

While Cameron is electric and fearless on the field, off the field he is known as a reserved and shy individual, preferring to let his rugby do the talking. However, there’s another side to him that fans have come to enjoy — his creativity and personality shine through on TikTok, where he has built a following of 10.9k followers.

It’s a glimpse into the lighter side of a player who balances intensity on the pitch with authenticity away from it.

Looking Ahead

Still developing and continuing to mature in his role, Cameron Hufke remains a key part of the Griquas’ attacking identity. With big-game experience already under his belt and a natural flair for moments that matter, his future in Peacock Blue looks bright.
